Children and young people are faced with many challenges as they grow and develop. Counselling can offer the opportunity for them to offload and develop strategies for dealing with trauma or life stress. Counselling can be useful for both neurotypical and neurodiverse young people and my background allows me to support the range of young people in my sessions.
I use creative and engaging methods linked into the young person’s interests in order to help create an enjoyable and productive counselling environment. This is developed by a free consultation process which involves a video call with the parent or guardian to take basic details before a free in person or online session with the young person to truly understand their perspective.
I hold an enhanced DBS check and I am trained as a safeguarding officer and am a fully accredited counsellor. I have been working with children and young people offering animal and nature based therapy for a therapeutic organisation and have more recently expanded to offer in room counselling sessions. With a background in teaching I would like to think I have a unique perspective for understanding not only the development of young people but also some of the stresses and challenges they face in their everyday lives.
